THE SIGNIFICANCE OF TIPPERARY-OWNED PUBS IN DUBLIN
The Tipperary name has been enhanced in Dublin by the existence and goodwill displayed to all Tipperary people over the years by Tipp-originating pub owners.
Liam Ahearn, owner of the Palace Bar, has been extremely generous in his support of Tipperary people and the Tipperary Association over the years. Pat Conway, past President of the association and owner of Conway's Pub, was renowned for giving apprenticeships to Tipperary lads, who then went on to establish their own pubs in Dublin. Other pubs with a Tipperary link included Comans in Rathgar, Kielys in Donnybrook, Ryans in Sandymount etc. And, of course, Louis Fitzgerald of Cappawhite has been and continues to be very generous also in his support of Tipperary and the Tipperary Association.
